Blue Ticking has a new work space!

helen-john-workspace It’s almost three months since I wrote the last blog post about our new work space. At that point we had the keys and were making a start on transforming it into a workable space. Well I’m very pleased to say we are pretty much there! We have moved all of our goods from our old barn into this new one and John has done an incredible job of adding an office, photography area and storage/workshop. We still need to beautify parts but the great thing is we are in and it’s amazing! We have tried to create a space that will enable us to show case our products and work on them under one roof. It needs to be functional yet stylish and simple. We have kept the photography/showroom/office area clean and fresh with white walls, grey ceiling and a black floor. The contrast is stark but works really well against our furniture and with the styling. To add a pop of colour we managed to salvage a very cool orange door from my mother in laws barn and John has created a bespoke colourful top for my desk. An old window frame has been added so  you can see through to the storage area and then workshop. We now just need to finish the showroom part so that our goods can really shine!

The transformation in pictures

Below are a few snap shots of how it has taken shape over the last couple of months. I have yet to have a full week there due to the summer holidays and the kids being at home, but I am already able to see the benefits of the space. The simple fact that I can do everything in one place is pretty life changing! One example of this is with the photography.  I am able to take the photographs and straight away download them onto the computer. If they aren’t quite right I can very quickly take them again. In the past I would have had to take the photos, pack everything up and then come home to where my computer was. If the photos weren’t quite right I would have to drive back to the barn probably on a different day because I would have run out of time. The whole process was fairly laborious and not overly productive. We also have a space appropriate for many of the goods we are selling and we hopefully won’t have to worry about damp or the paint freezing! One major thing is I now have the separation with work and home which was a key aspect of this move and vital for ones sanity! In addition I have my own toilet, yes folks my own toilet! It really is the simple things in life which mean the most! We have also added steels so that over time we can make the mezzanine bigger which will enable us to double the floor space etc. I feel immensely proud of what we have achieved so far and excited about the future. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little daunted too but at present excitement is the over riding feeling! We very much hope the new unit will allow us to do so many new things and grow over the coming years. It’s also a place where our brilliant customers can come and view and pick up goods. I would love to see you so please do come and say hi. Lets not forget the added benefit of having the Milk Churn cafe onsite so you could always tie a visit in with lunch and or tea and cake! If you are after some amazing local beer there is the Firebird brwery just in front of us and around the corner the brilliant interiors store Also Home. There really is something for everyone!

So where is this incredible space?!

Blue Ticking Unit 4E1 The Brickworks Lynwick St Rudgwick West Sussex RH12 3UW Monday-Friday 9:30-2:30pm We are directly behind the Firebird Brewery, just look out for our signage above the door! If you are coming some distance it might be worth calling first just to check someone is there because we are often out and about sourcing new goods. John and I can’t wait to welcome you to our new workspace and share all the exciting things we have planned over the coming year!
