In The Workshop

Over the last year we have seen our business evolve and our offering change slightly to reflect what our lovely customers want and also our desire to stand out from the crowd. One of the major things we have noticed has been an increased up take of customisation with our desks and chairs. Lots of you love a pop of colour so we can now paint chair or desk legs and desk hinges in a range of Farrow and Ball colours. Painting desk hinges for example, is a great way of introducing ...

It's almost three months since I wrote the last blog post about our new work space. At that point we had the keys and were making a start on transforming it into a workable space. Well I'm very pleased to say we are pretty much there! We have moved all of our goods from our old barn into this new one and John has done an incredible job of adding an office, photography area and storage/workshop. We still need to beautify parts but the great thing is we are in and it's amazing! ...

Many of you will be aware that we have been on the hunt for new premises for the business for over a year. Frankly it is all I have talked (and moaned about) so I apologise now to everyone who has had to listen to me bang on about it! In my defence this has been a crucial goal for Blue Ticking and one I knew we needed to suss for us to more forward and grow. Whilst our current barn has been an amazing starting point we knew from the get go it wasn't going to work long term ...

One of the wonderful things about Blue Ticking is being able to experiment with new products. I am very lucky to have John on board who is quite the carpenter and creator of brilliant things. We both have a love of trinkets, though his idea of what a trinket is can be quite different to mine! He has been known to find an in tact lollypop on the beach with the wrapper perfectly in place but with the lolly no longer inside. Screams of joy and delight could be heard for miles when ...

We are now a few weeks into January which has given me some time to reflect on the year that was 2015! In short it was a pretty good one. It provided lots of learning, fun and change, both on a personal and professional front. It's hard to believe that Blue Ticking will be two in May and when I look back at last year i'm really pleased with the progress we have made. We have reached more people both locally and further afield, sold many more goods than the previous year, (which ...

So its been a little quiet on the blog of late. This is mainly due to our workload increasing somewhat and time not being my friend. It's wonderful being so busy and feeling creative, but it's also frustrating when you don't get the time to do all you want to. We launch in Manns of Cranleigh in just under 3 weeks, (it makes me a little anxious just writing that as reality hits) and i'm at that point where I just hope we are going to get it all done in time. We will because we ...

Lots of people ask me where we find out brilliant vintage goods and how we choose from the many wonderful things on offer. Being in the Surrey Hills we are very lucky to live not that far away from the South of England show ground. It's here that Ardingly Antiques Fair is hosted every few months and this is where we find much of our stock. For me, this is a real highlight and even now I get terribly excited on the drive there anticipating the many gems I will hopefully find. ...
